SportLog Privacy Policy

SportLog ("SportLog", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile app for logging the sports games you watch, predicting winners, and competing with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using SportLog, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information needed to run the app. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party advertising trackers.

• Account information: your email address, used to create and secure your account and to send verification and password-reset emails. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form.
• Profile information: your username, display name, optional bio, optional favorite team, and an optional profile photo you choose to upload.
• Content you create: game logs, reviews, reactions, "watched via" details, spoiler settings, predictions ("picks"), and your watchlist.
• Social connections: the accounts you follow, who follows you, and any accounts you have blocked or muted. Your block and mute lists are private and are never shown to the accounts on them.
• Technical information: our backend provider may automatically log limited technical data such as IP address and request logs for security and to operate the service. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, or device advertising identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To provide core features: logging games, making picks, scoring predictions, streaks, leaderboards, and following friends.
• To display your public profile, picks, and prediction record to other users, and your logbook to accounts that follow you.
• To send account-related emails (verification, password reset).
• To maintain, protect, and improve the service and prevent abuse.

3. What Others Can See

• Public to other users: your username, display name, bio, favorite team, your individual picks, and your prediction record are visible to anyone signed in to SportLog, except accounts you have blocked.
• Public on the internet: profile photos are served from public storage, so anyone holding a photo's direct link can view it, whether or not they use SportLog. Note that changing your photo uploads a new image and does not remove earlier ones.
• Your followers: your game logbook (your logged games and reviews) is visible to accounts that follow you. Following does not require your approval — any SportLog user can choose to follow you and will then be able to see your logbook.
• You control what you post and can edit or delete your content at any time.

4. Controlling Who Sees You

Because following does not require approval, SportLog gives you three ways to take access back. None of them notify the other person.

• Remove a follower (Friends → Followers, or their profile): they immediately lose access to your logbook. They can follow you again unless you also block them.
• Block (their profile → …): any follow between you is removed in both directions, neither of you can follow the other, and you disappear from each other across SportLog — profiles, search, leaderboards, and pick totals. Manage your list under Profile → Blocked & muted accounts.
• Mute (their profile → …): hides someone from your leaderboard and suggestions. This one is only about your own view — a muted account still follows you and can still see your logbook. Mute them and remove them as a follower if you want both.

Blocking and removing a follower are enforced on our servers, not merely hidden in the app. There is currently no setting that makes your logbook private to everyone; if you would rather an entry not be seen by any follower, delete it or do not log it.

5. Third-Party Services

SportLog relies on a small number of service providers to function:

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage (including profile photos). Your account and content are stored on Supabase infrastructure. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• ESPN — we retrieve publicly available game schedules and scores from ESPN to display matchups. We do not send any of your personal information to ESPN.
• Apple — distributes the app and processes any transactions through the App Store under Apple's own privacy terms.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → account settings). You may also request deletion by emailing us at the address below. Deleting your account removes your profile, profile photos, logs, picks, watchlist, and social connections — including your block and mute lists — from our active systems.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, secure on-device token storage, and database access controls that restrict each user's data to that user and the people they have chosen to share with. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children's Privacy

SportLog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law (including the GDPR and CCPA where they apply).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of SportLog after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
